How to Do Heat Moulding on Alstone WPC

Alstone WPC is known to have high thermoformability, which means that it is easy to reshape into any form using heat. To understand more about WPC properties, applications, and design possibilities, read our guide on Alstone WPC applications in modern interior and architectural designThis is why heat moulding is the best technique to create Alstone WPC sheets in curved, twisted, or customized shapes.

Firstly, you need to know what heat molding is and what the process is. Heat moulding is a manufacturing process where a material like a thermoplastic sheet or Wood Plastic Composite is heated until soft, shaped over or inside a mold using pressure or vacuum, and cooled to lock in the form.

Also, before starting the heat moulding process, it is necessary to work in a controlled environment with safety precautions. You should be extremely cautious and wear suitable safety equipment, including heat-resistant gloves and protective gear, while handling heated WPC sheets and heating equipment. Because of these things, you won’t harm yourself and will work properly.

First of all, make sure the sheet surface is clean, dust-free, and free of particles. Having a clean surface helps to get better results, and that makes your design look good with a smooth finish after moulding.

Then, put the sheet into an industrial oven and close the door. You should set the temperature of the oven to 120°C and heat the Alstone WPC sheet for approximately 10 minutes. At this point, you have to prepare your mould. It should be clean, smooth, and ready for receiving the heated sheet. Heating the sheet makes it flexible and allows it to take the shape of the mould.

It is also possible to perform heat moulding of Alstone WPC using a heat gun. During this process, you have to apply heat evenly to both sides and edges of the sheet. It is recommended to use suitable industrial heat guns, such as high-power heat guns from reputable brands. You should be careful while using the heat gun so that you do not overheat any particular part.

After heating the Alstone WPC strip or sheet for 10 minutes, you get a flexible product that can be twisted, bent, or shaped in any way according to the required design. This characteristic of Alstone WPC allows it to be used for making unique architectural elements, curved designs, customized items, etc.

Now, having completed heating, you need to carefully remove the hot Alstone WPC sheet from the oven using appropriate safety gloves. Place the softened sheet gently on the mould and press it on the surface. Apply pressure uniformly to make the sheet adopt the desired form.

Being thermoformable, the heated Alstone WPC sheet gradually adopts the shape of the mould. After it cools down, it keeps the new shape and is ready for manufacturing different customized products. As a result of heating the Alstone WPC strip, it becomes flexible and can be twisted, bent, or shaped according to the required design.

Now, manipulate the softened strip into the desired form while wearing protective gloves. After cooling, the material will keep the newly created shape. Heat moulding demonstrates the versatility of Alstone WPC and its ability to become functional and aesthetically pleasing products. Following the correct heating procedure and taking appropriate safety measures, it is possible to efficiently reshape Alstone WPC sheets into various forms while keeping their performance and appearance.

Thermoformability of Alstone WPC makes this material extremely versatile and adaptable. Using heat moulding with an oven or heat gun, Alstone WPC sheets and strips can be reshaped into different forms and designs.
